I myself love Rock Rivers, I looked for months for one on Gunbroker and GunsAmerica but no luck, the ones offered were just too expensive for used guns. Then I found a dealer who actually knows the guys that started RRA and he got me one straight from Rock River with no wait.:wow: I was totally surprised because every other dealer I spoke to said they couldn't get them at all. He told me if I knew anyone else who was looking for one to let him know because he should be able to get more.

I thought I'd post this to help anyone who had been looking like me, but was having a tough time finding one. He also said production could fully stop in the next couple months or so, due to a lack of frames. Who knows what then, I don't think they are likely to pick up 1911 production again, which is really too bad because they made one of the best, if not the best 1911 out there. Anyway if you've been looking for one there is hope.

I thought they had already long since stopped making 1911s.

Apparently production has been at a trickle for about the past two years, and they were not making large numbers even before that. I think they've only made about 2,200 pistols to date, and they started in 96 I think.

They stopped taking orders a long time ago, they are only finishing existing orders.

Yes you are correct. I think some people give up on their orders though, so those guns have to be sold, then they can be bought without waiting, still a NIB gun from RRA, better than buying an overpriced used one on Gunbroker.

From what I have seen, those that are recent production and NIB are WAY overpriced aswell. One can only hope that they start making 1911s again and (sigh) offering frame and slide sets.

I thought that production was just finishing up the orders they already had. :dunno:

Why the fuss? I had a RRA Custom Carry and it was nice, but not uncommonly nice. I know it was built with good small parts, but cosmetically, I'd say it was between a good Springfield Loaded and TRP. My Les Baer Custom Carry was fitter much better. Much.

The RRA Limited Match is one of the best 1911s ever built, in my opinion.

Its certainly one of the best I own.

    You wouldn't be disappointed.

I wonder if there are any Limited Matches for sale? That's the one to get. :)

Right on Bac...my Basic Limited is the best 1911 I've ever handled, bar none.
