Police Officers Labor Council. Our officers union/association is considering changing over to this group from who we currently have representing us for legal/contract negotiations. Any experience with them, good or bad? Supposedly they are national organization, but only represent a few agencies officers unions in our area. Dues to POLC would be quite a bt less than what we pay our current parent association, who doesn't seem to do a whole lot for us other than collect their dues.

It's expensive, but have you looked at flying your union solo? My department is 82 top to bottom with maybe 65 "officers" (e.g. non supervisory personnel covered by the union). We have a completely independent union and are only paying $20/month in dues. It gets expensive around contract time, but we also get the undivided attention of the people we hire.
