I am picking up a S&W 242 this weekend and was curious if anyone actually carries one. If so - I have a couple of questions:

    What holster do you use?
Where do you carry (belt, pocket, ankle...)
    Finally, how is the size?

I have carried a 442 in the past in a Uncle Mike pocket holster, and currently carry a 342PD in the same Uncle Mike pocket holster. However, I have always wanted to own the 242 (kinda rare, 7-shots), but it is a bit bigger. I believe it is built on the K-Frame, or maybe L-Frame - it isn't a J-Frame.

My main carry has been and will always be the G23. But on occasion...

    Thanks.

    It's a 7 shot L frame Centennial in .38sp +p.

I carried mine a bunch when I was without my 442, I used an Uncle Mikes neoprene clip holster and it went in a cargo pocket of my shorts or pants.
It's a little large, but still only weighs 18oz.

7-shot, L-frame, .38 Special. What will they think of next?

That thing looks like an attempt at an assault revolver :)

I can see why the OP is looking for one, that bugger looks small but fierce.

I understand it was in production only for a short time, S&W made it in .44 special, 5 shots too, don't remember model # for that one.

I picked it up yesterday and love it. Gave it a good cleaning, but haven't yet fired it. I think I will get a trigger job on it, and put some nice wood grips to replace the rubber on it now.

Can't wait to get it to the range. It feels natural in my hand... And light!
