Yes, I am a mild-mannered gentleman with a white-collar job, above-average means, and respected in my community...

But I have a guilty pleasure and it is occasionally listening to newer Celtic/Irish punk...

Drop Kick Murphys and Flogging Molly are fun to listen to...

I never listened to anything Celtic till a guy I work with got me interested. He's in the band Highland Reign here in Indiana. The band is officially 'Celtic rock'/Scotch-Irish Traditional. Give them a look on their website, YouTube (I'm in one of their videos, my Dad and I play priests in Raise Your Glasses), iTunes, etc.

They're not quite Dropkick Murphy or Floggin' Molly, but they're fun. I just went with them to London and Scotland last month touring cities and playing in pubs.

My Celtic tastes started with not liking the traditional, and wanting more punk/rock styles of it, but lately I'm loving the slower, more traditional.

    Aye, keep rockin'! :)

I absolutely love the songs "Whistles the Wind", "The Story So Far", and "If I Ever Leave This World Alive", all of which by Flogging Molly. Timeless music.

I LOVE all of it! Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues, and Flogging Molly are all bands I can definitely recommend. Great music for drinking, laughing with friends, or singing along to. Some of it might also fire one up a wee bit.

If you've not heard these bands before, you're due for a Google-Fu work-out. I think you'll like what you find.

With my ancestry (50% Scot, 50% Polish), appearance (red hair, blue eyes, pale as Casper, some ink), and love of Guinness, it's nice to hear music who's "target" is guys like me...or pretty Celtic lasses:whistling:

A friend of mine calls it "Ginger Pride" music. "I'm strangely comfortable with it."

    Slainte!

Im just getting my feet wet in this area of music...
Flatfoot 56 got me interested. A little more melodic, a little smoother vocals at times, but they can absolutey belt it out too. CRAZY bagpipes.

I'm not a fan of Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly, although I have been to see both. I do like some Irish-ish punk, if you count bands like like Stiff Little Fingers, Hudson Falcons, the Pogues, the Popes, etc.

I'm more likely to listen to English or U.S. punk and to listen to non-punk Irish music, like the Wolfe Tones or the Irish Brigade.

The Pogues, with Shane MacGowan, are my favorite Irish band. Without Shane, they are nearly my least favorite.
