Any LEO's carrying Gen4's?

There has been a lot of threads complaining about Glocks new finish. I figured the best people to ask would be those that carry everyday how theirs are holding up. Are there any LEO's here that have switched from Gen3's to new Gen4 glocks? How is the new finish holding up compared to older Gen3's?

I carry mine as a CCW everyday with no signs of wear yet, but mine is protected by my outer garment. Cops carry theirs on the belt and the gun is subject to more abuse, so I wanted to ask your opinions.

  2. My Gen 4 is holding up fine. Is there a new finish on them?

We knew about recoil spring issues a few months back when we got them. Last month we got new spring sets issued out.

    I like the grip better.

Yeah, they don't have the old shiny black finish that the Gen3's had. It is now a dark grey finish with a more matte texture (less slippery).
  4. No problems with mine yet. And that includes working during Hurrican Irene and the following tropical storm.
  5. I guess my old Glock was so worn and gray...

My gen3 G26 has the newer finish and it's been carried daily for the last 5 months with no visible wear. PD just went to gen4's...I'll have to ask them about any finish issues.

I got my G26 gen 4 in Feb. Shot somewhere around 500-600 rounds through it, carry it everyday in a Uncle Mikes ankle holster and It still looks bran new. The outside of the barrel isn't even developing wear marks yet. This new finish is extremely resistant to the wear that I put it through. Oh yeah, no stoppages either.

We were issued Gen 4's in May. The pistols I have seen have been showing holster marks. Mines pretty bad.

Been carrying a Gen 4 G17 for several months and I have shot the snot out of it. I have not changed out my RSA yet. I have been rained on several times, no problems. Finish still looks good.

Finish sminish, the old gray looked better anyway:supergrin:
I don't carry one on duty but I am asking to be allowed since I am carrying a 1997 G22 as I type.
My Gen4 G22 just arrived yesterday and I am headed to a GSSF match tomorrow so I won't be shooting it until next weekend :crying:.

Seen a few in holsters here. Seem to be holding up just fine.
  14. not sure when they switched finishes, but our gen3 Glock 31s from 2008 are showing holster wear badly.

look at the front of my slide here:

you can see the holster wear (using Safariland 6280).

The finish is still tough as nails though. I couldn't scratch it up. had to use scissors, couldn't find a screwdriver.

i bought my Glock 22 when we switched over (EPK serial era, the one with the recall) and it is not showing as much wear as the newer 31.
