Any ideas on repaining a Comp M2 adjustment knob?

Discussion in 'Sights, Optics and Lasers' started by Morris, Aug 23, 2010.

  1. Pulled my patrol rifle out of the bag this morning to get is ready for work and found the adjustment knob for dot lighting was missing. Still in the bag but appears to have been stripped and the two set pins are not twisting to lockdown. Looks like how it was placed in my bag for front seat use may have knocked the knob off.

Loctite it on? Order a new knob? Ideas?

    I'd send to Aimpoint.

  3. Spoke with Aimpoint. Looks like the brass set screws in the knob were damaged on install and knocking it around may have done just the right magic. Anyway, got it back on but . . . will keep a spare knob on hand. Funny thing is, the set screws look like they are supposed to be a 1.5mm by the hex key spins in there and the 2mm is too large. Oddly enough, a 1/64 hex socket I had fit and I managed to get it tightened down again. Half tempted to get a dot of blue Locktite on the head of the set screw to rest against the post.

Clean with acetone, dry, then use nail polish.
I would suggest clear, not pink.
  5. Good point. Pink clashes with evil tacticool and jack boots.

  6. Aimpoint is doing me right! Replacement knob on the way. Thanks John!
