    I ordered my first 1911.....A COLT stainless XSE lightweight commander .
    I should be receiving the gun about the 2nd week of Jan 2012.

    I have already ordered a Comptac M-Tac,2 Wilson 47D mags & a set of VZ 'Alien' grips all for a gun I do not have yet.:shocked:

    Has it started already????:dunno::faint:

    ps. I have found the COOLEST place to take pics of my new Colt once I have it in my chubby little hands...If there is ever a contest,I'd win hands down.

    Yes. There is no cure. The only thing you can do to keep from getting the shakes is to buy another 1911 within the next 6 months, and every 6 months after.

    Congrats on the 1911!

    Just accept it.
    1911's seem to be an addiction more so than any other firearms that I know of.
    Maybe because they are so cool to begin with!!!

    First of all, there's nothing wrong with buying accessories for a gun that you ordered but not yet came in.

    Secondly, congrats on the XSE Lightweight Commander. I must warn you that mine shot really low. The gunsmith measured the rear sight and found out that it was too short of a height, so he ordered a higher Novak rear sight for me free of charge.

    I did some minor tweakings to mine: a) switch the full length guide rod & open-ended plug out for a regular GI short guide rod & close-ended plug, b) switch out the plastic mainspring housing for a metal mainspring housing, c) switch out the hex head grip screws with slotted head screws so that I don't have to hunt for hex wrenches, d) switch the ambidextrous safety out with a left-side thumb safety.

    Mine eats the supposedly "bad" Tula Ammo like candy.

    Well it seems there was a minor glitch but it turned out a little better....The shop where i had ordered the Colt got a message from the supplier/Colt (not sure who) that said that production had been slowed and that their (my) order would not be filled for a few more months & that the gun would be built in 2012....(NO 100year rollmark) which i wanted to have the rollmark. So the shop refunded my deposit & I found the gun on Gunbroker & won it for $30 bucks more & will have it by this Friday, 12-30-11....

    Pics of the gun show the rollmark & that it is a later build with the 'upswept' beaver tail safety vs. the duckbill. Once I get it I will go out to my 'picture location' and post them here.

    Any guesses to where the pics will be taken??? Yes I am 20 minutes from the OLD Colt factory in Hartford,CT but that is too obvious....

    At least you can still get the pistol that you want with the rollmark. Take some photos of it at the old Colt plant. That would be pretty sweet.

    Why is it better? Half-naked chicks romping around? That would definitely make it better.
