I will pick it up after work tomorrow and try to go to the range this weekend!

I bought 700 rounds of ammo from a guy last weekend for 260 bucks while after I handed him the money promptly bought a new Berreta in 9mm.

I am physced to shoot my first 1911 (My own).

I know some of you hate the rail and the non traditional looks but it's what I needed and the only way to justify a new purchase. :dunno:

I know, It looks like a TRP! :embarassed:

    Initial thoughts =
    1. Heavy - 45 ounces I believe before ammo and mag
    2. tight - extremely close tolerances for the slide/ frame - very clean
    3. trigger - beautiful to say the least, the best stock trigger I have ever felt. Makes my Glock feel like its got a potatoe stuck in the trigger.
    4. Front strap - same as what everybody says - Ugh, I guess I'll get used to it!
    5. Grips - The G10 grips are as agrresive as the front strap, My hands hurt from just playing with the gun.

Range report coming Saturday. I am ambidextrous and will have to shoot lefty due to a shoulder problem. In fact I will go from the range to the clinic for my MRI.

Carry gun it is not! I'm glad I have my G27 as well as a few other smaller firearms.

Streamlight TR1 or TR2 coming soon. Do I need the laser???????

    Guys,
Can I hit the Range right out of the box with this gun? I am stressed for time before my range visit in am.

I would suggest a field strip & quick cleaning, but you can head
straight to the range.........take some oil.
A few drops on slide rails with slide locked back.
One on end of the barrel, release slide, place a few on barrel hood.

Cycle slide a few tines and get to shooting.

OK, Sunday I took my new TRP to the range.
The aggresive front strap checkering really melt into your hands and there is no problem holding this gun, in fact it felt great.
    - The gun ran flawlessly until my friend took my gun to his station at the range and tried to run a Kimber 8 round mag through it. Then the slide did not stay open after the lasst round. Back at my station w/ stock mags we ran perfect
Why does the TRP run 7 when all the others seem to run 8?
    - I have shot .45 before but not much and the recoil is definately different than the 0.40, more of a roll than pop.
    - the gun is very accurate but I was shooting left handed because of a shoulder problem so its true potential is not yet there for me. My friend shot the gun very well.
    - I am hooked, my friend has a Dillon progressive reloader and I hope to be joining a new shooting range soon. :wavey:

    Sorry, no new pics!
