All stainless Kimber Super Carry Pro looks pretty interesting

Saw an ad on the back cover of a gun magazine of the Super Carry being offered with a stainless slide and frame, finished in black Kim Pro. A Pro with a flush crowned barrel, single sided saftey and bead blasted to a nice satin matte would be one sweet looking gun. Funny thing is, that Kimber just updated their website and several new guns were left out. In the same magazine, there was another Kimber ad, showing the new CDP Ultra with a fullsize frame. That one didn't do anything for me, as I have the CDP Pro, but the black SS Super Carry could be turned into a pretty cool CC 1911.

I looked at that ad too. A steel frames super carry is cool (as I don't care for aluminum frames Kimbers because of no ramped barrel). However, I went and held a super carry at my local gunstore. The front strap is pretty slippery. That texture they have on the front strap is not very good IMHO. I didn't care for it.

Also, I was reminded that I prefer full length backstraps on my guns. I just can't get into the bobtail thing - even if their modified main spring isn't quite as "bobtailed" as the ed brown bobtail.

It's from Kimber's "Custom Shop" so it must be good. Can you order it without the FCS and top of the slide done?

Only if you sneak in at night and reprogram the CNC machine that says "Custom Shop" on the side.

I would actually consider a Super Carry if it were all steel.

Isn't your CDP aluminum framed? What don't you like about that?

I like it for carry, but I don't want another.

    I much prefer steel 1911s.

Just curious. I prefer all steel too but I carry my Super Carry Pro most of the time.

Well, if I didn't have the Pro CDP, I'd get a Super Carry with an aluminum frame.

They're pretty close to being the same pistol.
