I have seen rigs built for the AK and I am hoping someone has first hand experience on one or both of these.

    First is the eagle rig.
the question I have on this one is how far around does the molle strapping go for me to put on extras?

The other is the pioneer M-23
My question is that the site says 6 AK mags/4 RPK mags and I'm not sure if they mean either or, or does this mean it holds both?

Any other chest rigs that hold more than just ammo would work, so if you know of one please add it. Thanks to all.

I have been running a BlackHawk AK chest rig and love it. It has gotten me through an intense 5 day class and a bunch of training/practice since.

I have seen the Eagle chest rig you mention and it seemed to be very good quality, but I have never put one on so I can't answer your specific question. I'm not familiar with the Pioneer.

A rig that is US made and oozes quality is the 'Tactical Tailor' gear here is a chest rig just a little more than the one you are looking at, and there are others on their site that will carry more than mags, for a little more cash.

Friend has an Eagle rig (just the Universal run as a 3-mag rig with another pouch and off-rig pistol). Very happy with it, well made, quality stuff.

I have this one and like it alot. Very similar to the Tactical Tailor but taken a step further with more MOLLE. Pretty well made too, comes with both harness affairs to let you rig pretty much as an 'H' or 'Y' (ala Chicom rig), which I think works best. I also appreciate the less bulky shoulder straps, which don't bite so much when throwing a ruck or daypack on top of them. To the rig (in Bulgarian green) I added a Maxpedition ACU dump pouch, another pouch for spare Glock mags and a another personal FAK. Pistol generally off the rig using all 4 cells for AK mags, but have carried only 3 and tucked the pistola in like the pic shows. (it's also quiet) Everything I need out of a chest rig.

I also like the Insurgent rig because it comes with enough strapping that I can be comfortable regardless of what I'm wearing based on the climate change; winters up here can have you layered up like Michelin man. YMMV, but I tend to want to use some other solution if loading out hell-bent for leather, although a basic cheap Chicom $8 rig to add 3 mags will sit under the Insurgent just fine. Otherwise I find I need to counterbalance the load out front with a pack or some other thing like a dedicated hydration unit.

I use the M23 VEST [not the chest rig], and wouldn;t use anything else - its specifically made for AK mags - not something else that "also works for" like so many others.

I used tactical tailor, very high quality, pretty much the rig of choice in most Ranger/SF and Mountain infantry units when I was in. Eagle is also a very well respected company among fellow lightfighters too.
