affordable self defense ammo

    Thanks for your help with this question.

    I'm on a limited budget with two kids in college. Could you give me your opinion of the self defense ammo choices my wife and I have in our house and carry guns? Are these loads acceptable(I know these are not what you have recommended as best)

    For 9mm---Wife's house gun, FNP 124GR Hornady TAP HP ammo in our weapons. Standard velocity about 1150fps.

    For 40---My carry, Glock 23--180 gr Federal HST( 1000fps) and 155 Remington(standard HP ammo, 1200fps)

    For 45---house gun #2, Glock 21--Winchester White Box hollow points, 230 gr, 880fps

    Adequate? Certainly!

    When time and budget permit upgrading, the 9mm is the caliber that will most benefit from something warmer, IMO.
