Please use phone or snail mail. Emails are not particularly effective.

This just in from TSRA regarding a bill which would prohibit seizure and confiscation of legally held firearms during times of natural disaster or other emergency.

    From TSRA:

    TSRA Members, family and friends:

On Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2007, the Texas Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security will consider SB 112, TSRA & NRA-backed legislation to prohibit the seizure and confiscation of legally-possessed firearms during a state of emergency or natural disaster. This would prevent the taking of lawfully-owned guns from honest citizens trying to protect themselves, such as what happened in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Please contact Senators on this committee before Wednesday, Feb. 7. Urge their vote to pass SB 112 out of committee and out of the Senate.

I anyone wants to attend, HB284 is authored by Rep. Joe Driver and the hearing is in the House Jurisprudence Committee TODAY at or after 2:00 PM

SB378 is by Sen, Jeff Wentworth who chairs the Senate Jurisprudence Committee which is holding hearing tomorrow at or after 1:30PM.

The meetings will be held in the underground Capitol Extension Probably floor E1. There will notices posted as to which room. These are the House and Senate version of Castle Doctrine legislation and should be strongly supported.

Regarding the times indicated, I said 'at or after' because the scheduled time listed has the qualifier "or upon final recess of the House (or Senate)". If the sessions run late, the meetings will be delayed until the session is closed and members can get to the committee rooms.
