ACLU is antigun and does not care about the gun carry issue.

City of Philadelphia Sued for Retaliating Against Gun Rights Advocate

(2/14/12) PHILADELPHIA - The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and the law firm of McCausland Keen & Buckman filed a federal lawsuit today against the city of Philadelphia on behalf of Mark Fiorino, a gun rights advocate who legally carries an unconcealed weapon in public. The suit alleges that the Philadelphia Police Department filed retaliatory charges against Fiorino after it learned that there was a YouTube recording of Philadelphia police officers threatening to shoot and screaming profanities at an unresisting Fiorino in February 2011. Fiorino was cleared of all charges in October 2011.

So they didn't take the case, is what you're saying?

Strange that everyone else says they're taking the case.

This is from the press release...
PHILADELPHIA – The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and the law firm of McCausland Keen & Buckman filed a federal lawsuit today against the city of Philadelphia on behalf of Mark Fiorino, a gun rights advocate who legally carries an unconcealed weapon in public.
Did you read the press release before posting? You need to. The above is the first paragraph. Here is the second paragraph...
“This was a vindictive prosecution of Mr. Fiorino motivated solely by the fact that he publicly embarrassed the Philadelphia Police Department and threatened to sue them for their misbehavior,” said Reggie Shuford, executive director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania. “Citizens have the right to hold police accountable without fear that they will be harassed or prosecuted for doing so.”
    As HerrGlock commented...

He is probably trying to say that they are taking the case for the civil rights violations and not the 2nd amendment issue.

Irrelevant to me and probably everyone else. They are taking the case or have taken the case. It's a gun case. The ACLU has taken it on.

Where I grew up there's a saying, "You'd complain if they hung you with a new rope." I do believe I know what that actually means now.

ACLU doesn't care specifically about guns. All they care about is liberty and rights. Doesn't matter if it's guns or whatever.

Anyone who thinks the ACLU is ok if your rights are violated when it comes to guns is bound to find themselves on the nasty end of a lawsuit (ala PPD).

ACLU is more concerned with this mans other rights being violated NOT his right to bear arms.

The ACLU is completely anti-Second Amendment. The Philly chapter is taking the case only to further the ACLU's long-established jihad against all traditional LEO and legitimate government agencies.

Of course, the Radical Left ACLU's deliberate mischaracterization of Heller as a "reinterpretation" of the Second Amendment is itself a neo-Stalinist exercise in revisionist history as Justice Scalia's majority opinion irrefutably traces the reasons for the Founders's reaffirmation of the individual God-given right to self-defense against tyrants and common criminals alike.

Bet your bottom dollar that the next anti-rights gun legislation making the rounds in DC will have the full support of the ACLU and other collectivist Radical Left groups. You won't lose.
