I have a hard time "buying", that I can get a Les Baer 1.5" for $1600-$1800.:dunno: Am I missing something somewhere? Maybe I'm passing by the cheap ass 1911, bad ass gun store? :dunno:

The 1.5" guarantee alone is a $295 option.

I was LUCKY and found my TRS used for a little less than $1400. I'd be smoking crack to think it's commonplace IMO.

I have never found a Baer that wouldn't shoot better than 99% of the people using them. His guns are virtually identical. Buy whatever fits your needs and is cheapest. Better yet, buy used so you can get one that is loosened up some.

Give John at Proload a call and he will tell you the 1.5" guns are a waste of money. He has very good prices on Baers but I think even the PII with 1.5 is going to a little more than $1800.

Well yeah, the 1.5" option certainly isn't necessary to have a great shooting Baer.

What?!! What?!! You mean you can't shoot 1.5 groups at 25+ yards?

    Pffftttt.....

I just think its amazing that a 5" handgun is capable of that kind of accuracy from a ransom.

I'm sure as hell not. :embarassed:

    OK
Yeah I think you can find them used in that price range. For some reason Baer don't hold their value very good in the used market. They are good gun for sure and you can normally find them at a very good price in the used market.

  11. While John at Proload is a nice guy to converse with, I would not say his prices are "the best." Shop around and you'll find better pricing. (I speak through experience)The other big distributor, Davidsons, has a lifetime guarantee where if something goes wrong with your gun, they will replace it free. This is just for comparisons sake as far as how you will be treated after the fact.

I'm not really sure where this notion came from, but its the second time its been posted in this thread. :dunno:

I honestly have never seen anything to lead me to believe that Baers lose their value at a faster rate than any other semi custom.

Many times Baers sell new lower, so that may have something to do with it. Baer is the only semi custom builder out of the big four or five to have models under $2K. However, they don't lose value any quicker or any more severely than the other 1911s in their class.

Actually they hold their value just fine compared to the other semi-customs.

    No doubt, Jeff.

I'm not sure where that idea came from, but it was posted twice in this thread and its the first two times I ever heard it. If anything, Baers hold their value better than some of the others.

Well, maybe I can wait awhile and find one that's got no FCS and been hardchromed and is about 10 years old or so. I should be able to pick it up for around $250, since they keep falling in value.

But then you will want to actually shoot bullets with it and not use it just as paper weight. I think that a used $1800 bear with 1.5" is a good buy and any used bear $1600-$1700 is a great deal.

I agree 100% with you. Actually my experience is seen used Les Baers going for $100 - $150 below street price, which is an awesome deal. If you can get a LB with 5000 or less for that price grab it fast. Another thing I noticed is that LB is becoming very popular, I am waiting on one and was told 12-16 weeks wait and I am going to week 17 now, talked to Les Baer and he said he is swamped with orders. All the regular gundealers I know, except crazy John from proload, are out of stock and when they get they are selling them like water in a hot summer day. Even John I called him twice, one time for my
Concept VIII and he was out of stock, and another for a TRS, which I am glad he didn't have at the time or I would be up to three LBCs by now.

Yes, but you need to be lucky to find one at a decent price. I find, not always but most of the time, gunbroker prices on NIB guns are way overpriced.
