My wife, beautiful young thing that she is, was searching around for something to buy for my birthday which was yesterday. She got me some really cool ancestry.com presentation on my distant family including rosters of what battleships dad was on in WW2.

We were walking the dog last night and she confessed I'm the hardest person ever to buy for. (she is correct)

She told me she had heard me speak of 1911's and that I admired the Singer 1911. She apparently went on a 1911 forum trying to buy me one and was promptly advised she's need about 100k for the pistol. A little bit more than she planned. We laughed, she had no idea the value and was trying to spend a grand or so at most to get me that little 1911 I've talked about.

Love is grand, Singer's are 100 grand.

I was issued a Singer when I was with the First Infantry Division in Vietnam. My advice: Forget the gun; keep the lady! She's a real winner but, of course, you already know that.

I had a singer also in the field, 1973 at Knox. I also had a model 58 smith that I stupidly traded off. I also had a prior wife I got rid of and I'm still paying on that one.

I tend to agree with what others have stated- Don't loose that little lady as she is a keeper and its a shame she didn't have an extra $100 Grand lying around to give you that great birthday present !!!!!!!!:wow:
