Help I'm trying to get a load to work using WST and 147g Berry's plated RN. Anyone use this powder and what results with which bullet work best?

    Thanks in advance...Tom

3.8 grs.WST, 1.150" OAL, 940fps or so from a 4" barrel, superbly accurate, low recoil, very clean burning. A real sweetheart of a load.

Pretty fast powder with a pretty big bullet, so I suspect the "range" between not cycling your gun and over the line might be pretty small.

I am out of town, when I get back, I will post what data I have on WST and various 9mm bullets I have tried.

Like tj, 3.6-3.8gr should run in most guns. Be careful going beyond that, load as long an OAL as you can. WST isn't prone to pressure spiking, but it is inverse temp sensitive, so cool days may surprise you at the top end.

I appreciate the responses and look foreward to hearing from WeeWilly. My initial load is 3.8 and OAL is 1.146 My test shots were not as accurate as I would like but I'm not a marksman by any means. But I really want to make this load work for me. I guess I will make a bunch of lots with various OAL and see which one works best for me. Thanks again.

    Finally got home, long drive.

I don't have a lot of data on the 147gr and WST. I only loaded one ladder with the combination.

I loaded 147gr LFP to 1.140" over 3.2gr - 3.8gr of WST using WSP and NATO brass.

All loads above cycled my G19, G26, SR9C and Kimber Stainless Target 9mm.

I think the middle of this range, call it 3.5gr will give you a nice light recoil and about 875fps out of a 4" barrel.

I would probably stay away from going much higher than say, 3.6gr.

    Good luck.

3.6g of WST behind a Bear Creek FP moly at 1.100 OAL runs at 920 FPS out of my G34 LWD Barrel and STI Spartan 9mm 5 inch.

I'd start at 3.5gr and see if that's enough.

Hodgdon would tell you not to try this at all.
