Well as some of you know, Fir_-medic helped me score a NOS 9mm Springer Mil-spec a few weeks ago. The gun is beautiful, but it had it's share of cosmetic faults. The crossed cannons logo is very poor , and the slide was not finished on the inside. I e-mailed Springfield, and they sent me out a RMA # and it was back to Il. After they checked it out, they said they won't do anything about the bad roll marks, but they will re-blue the slide. So now I am definitley going to use this gun as a base for a custom build. Since it was already at Springfield on thier dime, I told them to lower and flair the ejection port, install an extended ejector, bevel the magwell, install a beaver-tail GS, install a combat hammer, and re-blue the frame. It will be seeing other custom touches later this year. Oh, by the way, the gun was manufactured in April of 1986. Again, a big thanks to Fire_medic for helping me get this.

Yes they are. My first 1911 was a 9mm built on an Essex frame with a springer slide. I now have a worked over Kimber Target II, a RI tactical, the Mil-spec, and I just recieved a call from Dan Wesson on Monday saying my custom 9mm bobbed commander was finished. I also had a highly customized 9mm stainless Pro Carry that I sold to finance the DW build.
