Whats the difference between a 9mm "major" load, standard load, +p load, +p+ load?

9 major load for open guns are loaded hotttttttt and long ( 1.165 OAL or longer). 1400+ fps in my brothers limcat. Hooter than SAAMI specs.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, it appears that it is possible to make a 9mm into major so that means the G24 wont be of a disadvantaged in the standard div?

G 24 is in .40 cal. , you mean teh G 17 L. You have to do a lot of cutting to make it fit the IPSC BOX.

Apologies for the mix up, I keep on getting these glock "competition" models mixed up. I meant the G34, chambered for the 9mm which is being marketed by glock as a competition pistol. Obviously with a long slide, I think, though would appreciate some clarification, that the G34 is not production legal and fits well in the Standard division, where it being a 9mm, may fall short of the power factor?

If I use a +p or a +p+, (havent tried it), I am currently wondering if it would make it into the major power factor.

Thanks for the clarification. I am now beginning to wonder then, why did glock ever make the G34, which is not production legal or standard, though marketed as a competition glock variant.

It can be used in standard but w/ minor scoring. In PD, its legal in USPSA, w/c has a good market base.

Very popular gun in USPSA production gun. That is what Dave sevigny uses in USPSA competitions.

    related question:

In STI's catalog, there are two race guns, the trubor and trubor grandmaster, that STI says runs only on 9mm major.

There are two shorter race guns, the steel master and the matchmaster, that STI says run on 9x19.

Does it require a strong load like the 9mm major to run a full size race gun?

And an ordinary round like the 9x19 to run a shorter race gun?

Would a 9x19 work on a full size race gun?

Yes. Open division major pf is lower, 160pf.

I suppose those short racegun models would be ideal for steel challenge matches where there is no requirement to shoot major pf loads.

It would (maybe a recoil spring change) but you will not make major factor.

Major pf appears to have been reduced. I could still remember in the old days of the open division being 175.
