I know a lot of people have the .40 to 9mm conversions and some carry those for SD. to those that shoot those conversions do you ever get jams or are they pretty reliable?

I have a LWD 40-9 barrel. I have about 300 rounds through the barrel with no problems whatsoever. Even with brand new 33rd mags

With G19 mags and the LWD 40-9 conversion barrel, neither of my 23s has had any function issues.

    Storm Lake G27 40-9mm conversion barrel in Gen 3 G27 w/G26 mags.
200 rounds of Speer Duty GDHP 124 +P flawlessly.
In my hands; the gun is more accurate, recoils less and ejects better
with the SL9 than OEM 40.

I have 40/9 barrels in my G23,27,22. No problems, cheaper to shoot 9 and for a geezer it's easier on the joints.

I have a LW 40-9 conversion barrel for my G27 & a Storm Lake 40-9 conversion barrel for my M&P 40. Both work very well when using the proper mags...but I still don't carry these aftermarket conversion barrels in my guns for self defense purposes. If I want a 9mm SD gun, then I will buy a 9mm SD gun, not convert a 40s&w. I shoot the conversion barrels at the range and carry the OEM barrels for SD. But that's just me...

    I felt that way too.
But my Glock OEM G33 barrel, in my G27, nose dives bad on Speer GDHP.
So with the Storm Lake 40-9mm passing the 200 round SD ammo drill for SD?
I asked Mas his opinion on using the conversion barrel for SD after determining reliability.
He said he wouldn't worry about it - LOL!
    Neither do I.
    If it works? It works.

BTW I have a Storm Lake G27/357 barrel on order

my LW40 -9 barrel in my 27 works perfect, not one hickup, even works using .40 magazines.....i was surprised it fed 9 from a .40 mag perfectly
but I would stick to stock barrel for carry

I noticed I shot better with the 40-9 conversion as well

I don't know if it's the tighter chamber, land and groove rifling, or the increase in barrel thickness making it a "bull" barrel. I think it's a mix of all.

I have a LWD 40 to 9 conversion barrel for my G31,well over 3000 rounds of 125 gr. lead truncated cone bullets, aside from a few FTF in the first 100 rounds while working to find the correct COL, its been 100%.

I also have a LWD barrel in 357 Sig and shoot the same 125 gr. LTC at 1300 + fps, well over 2000 rounds, I get a little leading but it cleans out easily with a few passes of a “Chore Boy” wrapped bore brush.

Also, I recently picked up a G17 and got a LWD 9mm barrel for it, just over 1000 rounds with the 125 gr. LTC and have had ZERO malfunctions from the first round fired.

    Yup, Yup LOL
I went through all the same thoughts trying to figure it out too?
The real weirdness to me is it ejects better?
My 40 occasionally hits me in the head with brass?
But never with the Storm Lake conversion barrel.
    That's just not right? LOL!
The Storm Lake really does seem to have a better fit than OEM.
I stopped trying to figure it out.

With Speer GDHP 124 +P running stellar,
I bought several boxes of Winchester Ranger 127 +P+ to try next!

This gun is changing the way I think about 9mm

I saw a New Storm Lake recently that would not fit in the slide of the Glock it was designed for and was shipped back to Storm Lake. It left a 1/8" gap at the rear of the barrel.
I have used KKM and LWD with no issues.

Storm Lake barrels are semi drop in.
Usually they fit, but sometimes they require gunsmith fitting.
    That's really not unusual for after market, so called match grade, barrels;
    from anyone.

Sometimes you get lucky, and some times you don't.
My last G27 40-9mm conversion was drop in and go.

I have a Storm Lake 40-9MM conversion for my M&P40 full size.

It functions fine when I shoot with the 9MM barrel - but if I hand cycle a round it jams - even when I drop the mag and am just unloading the round from the chamber by hand cycling the slide - the round ends up not fully ejecting. I can hand cycle a .40 round with no problem.

I would not use a conversion barrel in a SD gun.

I have never has a jam or misfire in my 27 using either the 9mm, .40 cal., or the .357 sig.
