Hi all. I've been using Blue Dot and Unique to reload Hornady 124gr XTPs for my G17, but the manual doesn't list these powders for the 115gr variety.

Being pretty new to reloading, and unable to test fire without an hour's drive, I'm not sure how to begin. Anybody have any experience or sage advice they can impart? Thanks.

Lyman's 49th ed. states for a 115 gr. HDY XTP and using Unique, you have a powder range of 4.4 to 5.8 grains and a minimum OAL of 1.090".

I am not an expert by any means, but my advice is to start at 4.4 grains and make 5 rounds and work your way up to a load that produces the best accuracy from your weapon, and does not cause signs of overpressure.

Its been awhile since I have reloaded 9mm, but one of my standby favorite loads is 8.0gr. Blue Dot and the 115 XTP. I think Blue Dot can be bumped up another half a grain, but 8.0 does well in my pistol.

Many thanks guys. If I blow up my pistol, I promise to post pics. =)

Thats one reason I like Bluedot kinda hard to double charge a 9mm. Makes it much safer! You'll know somethings up when you see a pile of powder running over the top of your case!:whistling:
