Lets see if he had a felony conviction, then lets see if the the FEDS prosecute him! Enforce the laws on the books NOW, instead of inventing new ones, not to enforce! Reply 0 Schoolteacher 514 days ago We need to get use to this in New York.We deserve every bit,of every bad thing that happens, because we let our political leaders pass laws that have no merit.Until we register the mentally ill,and permanently remove the criminal from society, this will happen here.We are no longer people,we are sheeple . Reply 0 Mott Hoople4 days ago My friends despite all the grumbling you hear the federal system is too weak as it now stands. We need to have ONE SET OF LAWS NATIONALLY for all the serious stuff and allow states rights to flavor the less serious things. Take a good look at what state's rights are responsible for now. Almost every one of the confederate states has laws on the books that permanently strip the right to vote or own a legitimate sporting firearm from anyone convicted of a simple non national security related contraband offense under the grotesquely expanded defintion of felony that president reagan used to re-oppress minorities and supersize govt. and the legal system. Many of the formerly confederate states have weak gun laws and dangerous firearms bleed out from them to kill people in other states with tougher laws. Despite the propaganda you hear from a right wing republican side that is completely under the thumb of extranational interests the federal government is not strong enough. We must establish ONE NATIONAL SET OF GUN LAWS GOVERNING ALL STATES and frankly things would be more fair if there were one set of national laws. We are firmly in the 21st century, the civil war and the american revolution are now long in the past it really is time now for us to become ONE NATION. Reply 0 Mott Hoople4 days ago An Open Notice to all members of AFSCME, PBA, FOP, all similar organizations and the Masonic lodges. The NRA is wielding criminally excessive influence at the nexus of it, our public employee unions, and their separation of powers violating legal business partners in our government. If you are a private citizen you may do what you like but if you are on the public pay or pension YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE ANONYMOUS. Period. We who pay you however have every right to conclude that given the totality of the circumstance too many people are dying in random places and random times all over america. Our children are dying. Non gun owners have to live in fear. THERE IS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER. Your membership in this organization represents a clear conflict of interest with PUBLIC SAFETY, and the interests of the citizens of the united states of america whether they can vote or not. Public employees cannot claim to be acting in the interests of the people while engineering conditions that make the public UNSAFE, keeping the public in fear, while generating too lucrative community indebting financial renumeration and illegal special privileges like PBA cards. THE PUBLIC DEMANDS THAT ALL MEMBERS OF PUBLIC UNIONS the AFSCME, PBA, FOP, and similar organizations make known and renounce their membership or face termination and loss of pension. THE PUBLIC ALSO DEMANDS THAT ALL MEMBERS OF THE BAR ASSOCIATIONS THAT DO BUSINESS WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE VIA THE COURTS OR PRIVATELY CONFESS AND RENOUNCE THEIR MEMBERSHIP IN NRA NOW. NRA members in our state are directly responsible for the gun winding up in this criminal's hand. Reply 0 Mott Hoople4 days ago First off there are no gun laws in this entire country that have teeth. This is exactly the sort of thing that the entire system as it stands now is structured to maintain. Anyone wants to talk about heros lets have the police involved in the shootout reveal whether they are NRA members or not if anyone of them are then they are directly responsible for the handgun winding up in this mans hand. We pay their salaries and pensions WE THE PEOPLE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO KNOW. The fool involved in this shooting was following a path every step of the way that was laid our for him by the legal system. Gangs ARE a system of control for minorities and the poor. I don't see anyone trying to turn this around into being the police fault but let's be honest why arent they immediately subject to HAIR, BLOOD, and URINALYISIS? Anyone on the public pay or pension who shoots someone else ought to be subject to such testing. We pay them surely we the people have the right to demand this. This man's family should demand immediate hair analysis from all the officers who fired their weapons. Reply 0 Junaid Bawany4 days ago Damn another shooting by assault weapon....lets ban something else in NY... Reply +1 IraqVet044 days ago Well, the good news is that all that gun control in NY appears to be working other than another shoot out with a criminal who is not a law abiding gun owner...though I think the NYPD could use a little more range time Reply 2 replies +2 urwrong4 days ago It is working. The gun was brought illegally to a straw buyer in another state. The gun shop owner probably earned extra money for the transaction. Reply 1 reply +1 IraqVet044 days ago It's not working...the criminal still had a gun. +1 MarcDonato4 days ago Yes, there was a time when the ONLY crime on Staten Island were the "goombahs" shooting each other and dumping the bodies in the landfill..... Reply 0 royp4 days ago 14 prior arrests, including for gang assault, robbery and weapon and drug charges...Someh*ow this will be turned around (especially in twisted minds) to become the police fault. More time on the range must be spent to make sure every shot counts...center mass. Reply 1 reply +1 MarcDonato4 days ago Roy, they'll tell you that 14 arrests means nothing!!! No proof that he was ever convicted!!! Those were just 14 false arrests by the evil, racist NYPD!! Reply +1 Mortgageboss4 days ago "If we'd only had better guns laws such as the Evil Assualt Rifle ban, universal registration, and a high capacity clip ban this young man wouldnt have been shot." I'm sure there is a politician somewhere saying this. This criminal didn't respect any laws already on the book, what makes any rational person this new laws will have any effect. Maybe if we had locked him up for good after his 3rd conviction, it wouldn't have happened. Reply 1 reply 0 urwrong4 days ago I'm sure this wasn't a homemade gun. I doubt the criminal learned how to build a gun on his own. criminals don't respect the laws and neither do some of these gun shops and gun sellers that sell it to them with no repercussion.
