It is an 870 Wingmaster. The only thing that designated it as a police back then was the length of the barrel and the stocks. It is one of the best pump shotguns ever made and being used by hundreds of thousands of people every day.

Yes, it is only the express (and the recent ones at that) that have the stupid dimples on them.

Thanks for info I sold one of my shotguns that was for my wife and was thinking of buying one of the wingmasters . Is there any advantage to the wingmaster compared to the express model except for finish?

Wingmasters, expecially the older ones and hand polished. This gives a smoother action. Assuming same money I would take an old wingmaster over a new express (or even a new wingmaster) anyday.

Infact, get the wingmaster. If you later decide you would rather have the express I have one I will trade you.

I picked one up three years ago. It was rough but the price was right so I sent it to Wilson/Scattergun Tech for a rebuild. Now its fine. I've probably got about the same money in it that I would have spend on a new Police Magnum, but I had fun playing with it.
