I'm not a huge fan of dpms to say the least. Other than them and armalite who else makes 7.62 uppers and lowers that have a good rep, and don't cost an arm and leg?

So they're all about on the same level as far as pricing goes. Thanks.

7.62x... what? 39? 51? Could you be a bit more specific? :dunno:

IMHO the OBR is unmatched in performance. At the price point it really has little competition. Maybe JP...

7.62x51/7.62NATO/.308 is that good enough? lol

I'll probably have $2k to spend on the rifle itself later on. I'll be looking to build something with a 20" barrel. I like the SASS style of rifle but I'd make a few personal changes.

In that price range, for an assembled rifle, I would get an Armalite AR10.

Have you though of building one chambered in 7.62x51/7.62NATO/.308 Winchester?

OP said other than DPMS or ArmaLite.

To the OP: Before you start buying accessories for a gun you don't have yet, make sure you don't buy the wrong mags. In case you didn't know, all .308 ARs don't use the same mags.

    I'm an idiot......sorry.
.308 AR style guns aren't nearly as interchangeable as the AR-15's in particular. You need to do a lot of research before trying to piece one together.
