Joined the uscg reserves right out of high school, but dont really see it as something id want to do 20 in. I just dont click with boats. A couple years ago i notice emergency medicine is what i wanted to do. Got my EMT B last year. Im looking to see if transferring to army when my enlistments up and going into the Healtcare specialist rate is posible and a good move?

I was QA Officer at the Combat Medic School House 2008-2010. Here is what I remember ... Those students that already hold an NREMT-B & BLS are accelerated 6 weeks in the class. So, rather than 16 weeks you'd only be look'n at 10 weeks to complete the course.

I think promos are slow for 68W?

didnt mean it that way lol, just know several people who try to power through rank after rank and spend more time in their promotion book then working. Id rather just enjoy my work and get promoted when i do, im just an e4 now and doesnt bother me.

FWIW: Daughter was army 68W. Opted out of the army after 6 years. Her rank was specialist, but she was filling a captains slot, highly complimented for it, but couldn't catch a promotion.

In any case, thank you for serving.

Free advice, and worth every penny: Join the Air Force instead of the Army. I was in both, and there's no comparison.

talked to them today, they will take me based on scores but just reserve since im prior service transferring. After 6 months id be eligible for active.

One problem is they will make me do basic again, which kinda sucks ass. My rates not transferrable.

    Any update?

E4 and below should transfer. Don't let the recruiter bull**** you about that.

68W has a very slow promotion timeline. Points are pretty much maxed out. It takes a long time to make E5 and E6.

    Good luck.

BTW I'm an 11b but I know a lot of 68w's and could get you more specific info if you need it.
