Supposedly centered in the DC area. it shook our house nearly 300 miles away. Our family is OK. Won't know about Sally (in DC) until around 5:30pm.

Family in Richmond sez it was very near Mineral, Va.

Last good one there was on 12/9/2003 at 20:59:14, a magnitude 4.5 (4.5 MB, 4.5 LG, Depth: 3.1 mi, Class: Light, Intensity: IV - V) earthquake occurred 29.0 miles away from Mineral center

Could that have resulted from the Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves?

I was driving down Hardy Road, our local roller coaster in Bedford County, VA and did not even feel it.

My family said they felt it here while I was at the shooting range, but just an ever so slight tremor. I've never even heard of an earthquake in VA. Hope everyone and their families are OK.

    BREAKING NEWS:

5.9 magnitude earthquake hits Washington DC area.

The Obama administration quickly pointed out that it was not their fault and said that the Bush administration should have taken the proper steps in preventing this from happening.

They continued on to say "they inherited this problem" but President Obama has a plan to make sure it doesn’t happen again. As soon as he gets back from vacation he will go on a tour of the country to tell the American people what his plan will be.

(No, I did not write this....) :)

We already know it wasn't caused by collective removal of upper extremities from lower ones.

    They had an earthquake?
I was busy listening to the HF traffic down in the Caribbean and worrying about the folks on the SE seaboard facing a real problem.

    :)
