I'm in Hampton Roads Virginia and felt it. It lasted about 10 seconds and shook my house. No damage. My son slept through it.

We were on the road when it hit. Got home and a few things were off shelves in the garage, lost an antique vase inside, pictures on the wall were askew.

911 service is out in Charlottesville and Albermarle County, 30-miles from the quake's center. We're a few miles closer.

  6. We felt it in southern Jersey Russ.

    Felt it at NC/SC border

  8. It was hit or miss in Northern NJ. Some felt nothing, while others got knocked off their toilet bowls (don't ask)....

  10. I didn't notice it, but my fiancee, a surgical tech, was in the process of delivering twins at the time and said the OR shook enough that the instruments on the mayo were moving around. There was less than a mile between us at the time. Strange that she felt it and I didn't.

  11. It was felt in Pikeville KY, the courthouse was evac and there are cracks in the building.

Any structures in your patrol area flattened? I know, it's wishful thinking...

I am off tonight, but when I report for graveyards tomorrow I will make sure and talk with my partner in the other unit in our small town to be as prepare as possible. If there ar earthquakes in CO, and DC area, then the New Madrid can get stirred up and affect me in northeast Arkansas. Will make sure our supplies are up to speed, and will gas up a pair of gas jugs tomorrow if all is quiet tonight. More the better. You just never know...

Seismologists are now saying that the earthquake was not a result of tectonic activity along the eastern seaboard plate, but rather caused by our founding-fathers rolling over in their graves.

Russ, the wife and I somehow missed the aftershock. No comment on what was happening....
