45acp ammo

Discussion in 'Caliber Corner' started by rmeron, Aug 3, 2010.

  1. Does anyone make a semi-jacketed commercial round?
I want to shoot bowling pins and won't use lead in my Glock 30.

I doubt youll find any factory loads that use a semi jacketed HP or SP
only option youll come close to is to reload using one, only one i can think of off hand is the Sierra 240gn Semi Jacketed HP code number is 8820 there mostly designed to be used in the .45 LC or .454 - but there safe to use in .45ACP you can tell there designated as a revolver projectile due to the canelure.
If you really want lead there are safe options for the glock ive shot over 10k in my 17 125gn Molycoats, some guys like plated lead too - dont worry about the myths you hear about glocks and lead - i know guys who shoot IPSC using 357sig and molycoats some have passed the 100k mark and there guns are still running great.

Any JHP will do for pin shooting. Even plated FP, like Berry's, work fine for pin whacking in the 45.

20 years ago Hornady used to make a SJHP for 45acp, I loaded them

by the 100's for my Colt CBC 1911. Worked great. But I never saw

any non-realoads out there. HP will work fine so will FP. Good luck
