    Dear Mas,

In you magazine articles I've read your endorsement of the 45 acp, 185 grain HP Remington ammo.

But what are your thoughts regarding the Remington 230 HP ammo commonly availabe at WalMart with respect to:
    • Reliable feeding
    • Reliable expansion
    ...in 4"+ 1911s?

    Thanks.

The green & white box economy line Rem-UMC 230 grain .45 ACP JHP hasn't exhibited any quality control problems that I'm aware of, but I'm not aware of any actual shootings with it, either.

In an economy .45 ACP carry load, it's hard to do better than the Winchester USA brand in the white box, also known as WWB for Winchester white box. Also a conventional 230 grain JHP, it's the same load they sold as a standard police round for years, and it worked well in several shootings involving 5" Colts and S&Ws, and 4.5" Glock 21s.

    best,
    Mas
