    I currently own:

    SA Professional
    SA Custom Carry Compact
    SA Mil Spec
    SA Warren Tactical 9mm Operator

Ive been considering a railed 45acp Operator build but cant stop thinking about a 9mm 2011 from STI...

I missed out on a killer deal on a STI Edge a while back and cant shake the thought.

Im debating a SACS Operator build vs a STI Tactical 5.0 by Brazos.

Both pistols would be mostly training/comp guns but nothing too extreme (normal carry style triggers, etc)

    Any suggestions??

Quack and I have spoken many times... It was his STI Edge I missed out on :-(

I think I need to sell off a couple Berettas to keep the wife happy and call Brazo...

    Edge vs Tactical 5.0.... Hmmmm

I would need to know what kind of "training/comp" you did to make a recommendation.

I take some combat pistol and carbine/pistol classes with a local school and do some friendly bowling pin and falling steel competitions at a local gun club.

Id like to break into a regional comp but work schedule isnt very friendly to that...

I much prefer 1911s, but STI 2011s in any caliber are great shooters.

You can always get a G34.

I'm driving distance from STI, have shot many of them, and know a handful of guys who carry them as duty weapons.

A 9mm STI for me would have to be a pure game gun, since finding solid, reliable mags can be an issue with the 2011s from what they've all told me.

As an IPSC piece, etc, sure, but otherwise.....i'd stick with a standard 1911.

Of course... I wasnt implying passing on a 1911/2011 purchase for a G34...

Im waiting to see what happens with this Pro Op that popped up... If it works out, i may be getting out of the 9mm 1911 game before I even get into it...

You can't go wrong with a STI 2011. I have a hard chromed Edge in 40 and I absolutely love it. It has been completely reliable and will run any ammo I put thru it. Mags have not been and issue at all. I use stock, non-tuned sti tubes and have had zero issues. I used to shoot a G34 but that got sold after I started with the Edge. Also, with the correct mag internals and base pads, I can get 20 or 21 in all my mags, which are still legal for USPSA. You could probably get 24-25 with a 9mm and the correct mag parts.

I've been wanting a 9mm on a 1911 frame for quite a while. Been focusing on the top of the line, but don't value it that much. Middle of the line didn't excite me. Ran into this at the gun show and got it NIB for cheap cheap. Blasted tons of crap and some good stuff through it. Runs just fine. https://us.armscor.com/products/1911-tactical-a1fs-9mm

Notice the cut I made to accommodate the ambi safety. Knew I'd have to do this; no issues. Razor knife on rubber grips, bam!![IMG]

Tactical 5.0 since you'll get the weight of a full length dust cover and the benefit of a rail.

BTW, If you can't tell, I'm in the 2011 9mm camp.

Mag issues is a thing of the pass. STI have fixed them, and new mags are GTG. Even if you have a bad mag, STI will fix it.
