255 Grain 45 Super

Discussion in 'General Firearms Forum' started by Trigger Finger, Jan 22, 2013.

  1. FYI

I just heard from Kevin of "Underwood Ammo" who told me that they are coming out with a 255 Grain Hard Cast Flat Nose loading for my favorite caliber, the 45 Super.

This will be very similar to the Buffalo Boar loading. Velocity should be around 1075 fps.

They are back logged now but when caught up this will be produced!!

With Underwood quality and fantastic prices this is great news for 45 Super fans.

I think this is the perfect loading for those nasty wild boars. I said Boars, not Whores!

I just thought, this should be under Caliber Corner. Feel free to move, sorry.
    Spelling corrected, thanks ronin.45.

I have considered getting a 625 and tweeking it to shoot 45 Super. I just have my 4506 and Glock 21 now. How do you like it in the 625?

That load in one of my 625s is my ideal BOAR setup.

I love my 625s and one nice thing about them is you don't need to change anything to shoot Supers. The external dimensions are the same as ACP and the gun is plenty strong. Other than a little extra recoil there's no difference from shooting self defense ammo.

I can see shooting that load through my 625 AND Ruger Convertible Blackhawk.

Sounds like a nice option they're bringing out, it's good to see more .45 Super options, it's one of my favorite cartridges as well. I suspect the Underwoods load would work fine from any .45 ACP revolver.

I load up a 255gr WFN hardcast in my Gen4 G21 w/5" 4 port KKM barrel and have so far gotten it up to 1,150 fps. I have a convertible Bisley Blackhawk, but I've yet to try .45 Super from it.

As a side note, much like "Ruger only" .45 Colt loads, there is an article on "Ruger only" .45 ACP loads that uses 460 Rowland data and gives you 460 Rowland ballistics.
