Mas, I was curious on your take on the 230 grain JHP 45 ACP loading offered by Speer. I have carried and still do carry this as my mainstay load in my USP 45 compact. How in your professional opinion does this load rank. I realize that the USPc has a 3.8" barrel so there will be some velocity loss, but from everything that I can tell, it does what it supposed to do quite well. Your thoughts would as always be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :wavey:

The Gold Dot is a modern high-tech, high-performance projectile whose engineering parameters included the ability to open at lower velocities from short barrels. It's standard issue in many departments that have .45s, including shorter barrel ones such as the Glock 30 for plainclothes personnel, and I'm not hearing any complaints about performance. If in doubt, look for Gold Dot Short Barrel .45 rounds, with a bullet tweaked for maximum performance from shorter barrels.

    best,
    Mas

As always, thank you! I will check out the short barrel loads and see how they stack up against the standard loads. Besides, it's another reason to get to the range! I always like that! :wavey:
