Hey guys, I'm aware of the difference/history behind these cartridges.

..However, does anyone have data chronographing these two with 55 grain loads from the same gun? How much of a difference in velocity is it? I'm looking at wikipedia and it's saying the 55 grain .223 is running at 3,240 fps. Which seems high for a .223 if it indeed does have a few thousand less PSI for specs.

It has been awhile, but as I recall in the 55gr there was between 100 and 150fps difference. That was with Federal ammo, but you cannot be sure that both are loaded to the max.

5.56 is generally ~200fps faster than the same .223rem loading.
