I took a few .22mag revolvers to the range today, one was my NAA mini... and the other was my Ruger Single Six.. Ammo was primarily the new Hornady FTX 45gr load, supposedly developed for short barrels, advertising reliable expansion and decent penetration. I did have some CCI Maxi Mag +V also, a 30gr jhp bullet. The Hornady ammo uses the plastic thingamabob in the nose to assure reliable expansion. From what I've seen on jello testing, it works (Brassfetcher). Velocity is good too, chrono data I've seen puts it at 1000+ from a Ruger LCR (inch and 7/8) bbl and 940fps from a 1 and 1/8" NAA mini. My mini has the longer barrel (inch and 5/8), so 1000fps is probably realistic. The Ruger SS with its 6.5" barrel is safe for 1300+fps. (continued) Wanna kill these ads? We can help!
