Anyone using a 22 conversion on their 1911 and finding good success? I like shooting my SW1911 but would like it better shooting less costly ammo. I already have a Ruger Mark II so it's not a necessity but I thought it would be fun to try.

Best conversions out there are the Marvel and Advantage Arms conversions.
They are both Bob Marvel designs. The AA is a newer design in which locks the slide back on empty.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just did a search and found a lot of info.....should have searched before the post. I guess I'm looking for feedback on successful installs without having to do any modifications to the unit or pistol. Thanks again.

Should also add that the Ciener and Kimber design doesn't work with ramped barrel frames or 9mm 1911's. I also had an issue with my Kimber conversion not fitting on my TRP and know of another person that had the same issue with the Kimber not fitting.

I can't comment on any other model of .22 conversion but the Kimber, since I haven't owned or used any other conversion kit.

I wouldn't dare regurgitate what others said they heard that someone else said was supposed to be a good conversion kit.

But, my Kimber conversion kit has been stelar.

I just put it on and it worked.

    :dunno:

That's what they do. I have experience with 6 units and they all just plain work well.

Didn't work on my TRP. It started to go on RO the frame rails and stopped after 1/4"

  8. I have only shot Quack's marvel but it was a really nice set up.

Agreed. I shot it on his Wilson and it was
    fabulous.

  10. What's the word on the Advantage Arms conversions? The price is right and they look nice.

good stuff. the 1911 conversion was made with input from Bob Marvel. THe difference between the AA and Marvel Precision is that the AA locks back on empty.

The AA kit is what the STI conversion is.
The Wilson kit is from Marvel Precision, though the earlier kit was by Ciener.
The early Kimber Kit was a Ciener, but now they manufacture it, but still use the Ciener design.
