Should I be bulking up early this year? Anybody think prices on ammo are going to go up for any reason. I really like gold dots in the calibers I shoot.Anybody think Speer is going to raise it's prices for any reason?

If you mean "bulking up" on Gold Dot ammo for general shooting, you have a way bigger checking account than I.

I have plenty of surplus rifle ammo to keep my long ones barking. For all of my recreational pistol use I reload hardcast lead and keep the premium stuff for special occasions.

If prices do shoot up, I will be selling on Gunbroker again. I doubt prices and stock would go anywhere unless Obama wins reelection.

    From what I see:
It was "up" a couple of years ago, is coming back down a little now.

Like the stock market, it is a gamble.

I doubt it will get much cheaper, but what do I know?

In my area, since I have been paying attention, ammo has always gotten more expensive. Never less.

And considering the fact that properly stored ammo will out live most of us you might as well buy as much as you can afford now.

Anyone interested in "bulking up" on ammo should think of reloading.

Every coming election time ammo and gun dealers are looking for a good profit margin. Thats how capitalism goes.

Ammo should be coming down in price since the Military ranks are decreasing and we're out of Iraq.

Yes, as the same paranoid morons who ran the price up during the last election will start doing the same thing soon.

That plus the 2012 doomsday believer should make it interesting. Not only am I bulking up on ammo and stuff that I need, I'm going to be selling some stuff I don't when the Panic is at fever pitch.

For absolutely no reason, other than paranoia.

I remember all of the ammo hoarders posting about their hoarding awhile back, just drove me nuts.

They (the ammo companies) explicitly came out last year and said prices WOULD be going up 10-15% come June. Never happened...

The ammo companies bare the brunt of the blame for needlessly rising prices.

Granted, there was a time when the raw materials used in ammo manufacturing were very high, but they've dropped back down in the last few years.

With us being out of Iraq, and the Military contracting, ammo prices should drop, if idiots don't start spreading baseless rumors and start hoarding ammo out of fear.

I always recommend "bulking up" on ammo. I've always kept a hefty supply. During the last shortage I was selling ammo to my local range so they had some. As for gold dots, I wouldn't stock up on them. A couple 20rd boxes would last most people a lifetime. Target ammo is what I burn through.
