What are the main differences in the 2008 v.s. the 2010? I remember reading about some internal parts being changed as to how they were made? (not molded) Any other diff? I can buy a slightly used 2008 for 500.00 less than a new one. Are the stock sights the same between the two? The 2008 has brown wood grips instead of the black/grey grips on the current one. Have they been changed?? Thoughts????Help??? TIA.

is it black or stainless ?
If black, the 08 has a permakote/cerakote type spray n bake finish that will wear and chip. The '10 has a virtually indestructable nitrocarburized treatment.

The '10 comes with nice Heinie ledge 8 sights, in house tool steel ignition parts, DW made grip and thumb safeties, greider ledge slide stop and nicer, higher frontstrap checkering. It is completely MIM free (as I believe the '08 was)

By $500 cheaper are you talking $1000 or $1300 ? I ask because a new black '10 Valor can be found for $1589 if you shop around, but I'd jump on an '08 for $1K....If you're looking at $1300 ish I would seriously consider a new stainless Valor instead....

The 2010 model is a step up over the 2008 model.

Agree with asiparks. Depending on the price you can get that 2008 model, then it may or may not be a deal.

Sorry, I ment black. And I ment 1700 and 1200 for the 08. Prices are out the door. I kind of know the background on the 08 which is worth something as I'm hesitant about buying other peeps messes. But 500 is significant. I really like my Heritage that I bought new and that's why I'm Valor shopping. I really enjoy my TRP but after shooting the Heritage I'm expecting alot from the Valor. Asiparks thanks for the knowledge. The difference in the finishes is big...I like to shoot my stuff but keep it as nice looking as possible. Hum.......

But bac, you've got a 2008, and your my hero.
But then again, you've probably had yours "touched up."

So $1200 OTD for the 2008? Hummm... that's on the fence for me. If it was closer to 1K, then it's a no brainer, but $1200 is pushing it for a Cerakoted finished, slightly used gun.

I would spend the extra on a stainless new Valor and be done with it.

Not a big fan of stainless. I feel like the black would be more durable and I like the aesthetics of black guns. Thanks for the comments. Still on the fence about this one...

    ^ probably this ^

Shoot the crap outa it, decide if anything needed changing or tweaking, then send it to Freedom arms for a $150 antranite treatment.
Which is functionally the same as Duty treat. And Melonite. And E Treat...Isonite...Hard Hat etc....

Or take it to my local metalworker who will re bead blast it for $30...
Or take your Heritage, checker the frontstrap, change the sights to whatever you want, add whatever other stuff you'd like (bobtail ?) then have it Atranited and buy a crapload of ammo with the money saved to shoot through your "new" custom piece.....

Way to spin it. I do like that option of building on the Heritage.

The shop has a used Heritage as well. I hadn't thought about using one for a custom build....maybe I should buy the used Heritage and build a gun...Hmmmmmmmm......I could keep my new one and "play" with the
    other....

FWIW - I have a November 2009 Valor; when they announced the 2010 changes I called Dan Wesson and asked for a quote to incorporate the the 2010 changes in my gun. Keith told me that if I wanted to waste my money he'd take it, but said that if it was his gun he would leave it alone.
