I picked up an unfired 1st gen 17 from a fellow GT member. Yes unfired. The story is is that the original owner bought it and it sat in a drawer until he sold it to the guy I bought it off of. Both had never shot it. And by inspecting it there is no wear at all. This thing looks new. It did not come with the box just the original mag. The serial number begins in EU and is under 1000, which dates it Feb of 89. My question is, is this worth keeping "unfired" or should I go ahead and take it to the range?

    Damned if I know
Most collectors like it to come in it's original box, I have several first gens that are shooters. I would go out and shoot it.

If you bought it for shooting, shoot it.

If you bought it to be a collectible, don't shoot it.

Keep in mind that 1st. Gen G17s are low in production numbers and even without the box they command a premium to collectors.

  4. What if you bought it as a collectable, but really want to shoot it a lot, enter my G17 AL0XX unmodified with original box, sights and mags.. What to do..
