I've had some know-it-all, supposed industry guru who rubs elbows with well-known people in agencies and gun manufactures tell me and others on a forum....the big AR one:whistling:...that the 1911 is a good pistol in theory and only someone that has an armorer taking care of the pistols with lots of maintenance makes it usable for professionals.

My experience with 1911s is that most of the BS is false. The military may stray away from the 1911 because of budgets or specs that don't include the 1911 yet they always come back to it somehow, even if its only a section.

BTW, I'm sure some of you know who the guy is over there....has a SN of an old west actor, has an answer for everything and has everyone bow down to him.

That's good news. I heard a lot of rumors that the Corps was looking at H&K.

I'm glad they are going to stick with the 1911.

I also mentioned in another thread these 45 rumors for the USMC- yes they will be procuring some 1911's but it is in VERY small numbers for special ops use- the mainstream general issue handgun like it or not for the long forseeable furute will be the beretta
  7. I'm almost as old as it is!:wow:

    Thank you, you too.:wavey:
  8. I was in the Marine Corps when they switched over to the Beretta.
We were able to keep our 1911's but not many had the choice.
We were glad that we could keep them and we really didn't have a good opinion of the Beretta or the 9mm round.
But we understood the logic behind the switch for the mainstream troops.

I only owned 1911's till 2 days ago picked up an HK 45 and have a new respect for plastic.
Has more muzzle flip but nothing that bad and 25 yard 10 shot groups was not that far off most semi custom pistols I have used.
It will not be the last HK I buy .. but I will also get 1 or 2 more 1911's before all is said and done.

That's not exactly fair Mastiff lol. HK is the 1911 of Polymer. Rightfully so, they are amazing.

    Who cares what someone said?
If you like it, use it.
    Simple as it's.

I wholly support 1911 use for the military since they have to use outdated bullets, might as well make them bigger ones.
