If you could only have one 1911 that needed to keep on ticking no matter what, which would it be? I'm curious to see which you regard as the most rugged and dependable.

I look forward to the answers!

I went through a Colt Combat Commander, S&W & Kimber Gold Match. None were 100%.

    I bought a Wilson CQB & it's never malfunctioned in 5,900 rounds.

Must be the hand fitting.....or the price.

Plenty are reliable. Do you have more specific criteria / questions?

  5. I tend to like the basic Mil-Specs.
May not be pretty and they may not drill 8 rounds into the same hole but they do tend to be reliable under conditions that normally would be "difficult" for a gun that has tight tolerances and such.
Don't get me wrong here since I do not keep my guns stock out of the box very often.
I like to put high quality parts in my guns but I do like to keep them still as basic Mil-Specs. Just with better parts.

TRP---0 failures with any ammo so far. Once the round count gets around 2k, I'll say it's on par with my Glocks. Not there yet, but looks promising.

  7. Another vote here for the Springfield Operator. (*But a good going-over by Cylinder & Slide never hurt anybody!)

in my very limited experience...a COLT combat commander.

  9. any 1911 could malfunction regardless of who makes it. with that being said, I would pick the ones built with quality parts. because malfunction and parts breakage is a life stoppage.

    I vote for Les Baer.

For those of you who posted a brand you own, would you mind posting the round count and malf count?
    Thanks.

Got a Colt series 70 that is stock and has fired over 4k with zero problems. Don't carry it though. Have never had a problem with Colts. Period. Well, older ones at least.

I have Colts and STIs. Both brands have been utterly reliable. IMO, most decent 1911s will be reliable with quality ammo and if they are properly maintained.

I agree with this. Keep it simple.
