1911 refinishing

Discussion in 'Band of Glockers' started by thunderkiss, Jul 20, 2004.

  1. Good day sirs, I'm new here, just wanna ask how much would it cost to refinish my 1911. I'm planning to have it black chromed top and hard chrome sides of the slide; black finish frame (not sure which is durable). I called reliable arms the guy told me it would cost around 9.5k! Is that real? Can you guys recommend gunsmiths that charge lesser and do a good finishing job? Preferrably near Makati. Thanks

My gun was black-chromed by Col. Bayang. IIRC, I think I paid 8K (for the whole gun) last year. It's really an expensive process and you must be sure of the work. I've seen some really bad ones chipping off like paint. Try giving him a call at 840-1362.

If you decide on going for ordinary chrome, try the brushed-chrome look. You can always have the flats polished later on if you want. ;)

The pic below is one of his carry gun:

the price quoted to you is quite expensive. i recommend Balolong or A.P. Pascual in quezon city. In fairness with Col. Bayang's work, I've seen his shop's work and they are good. But in terms of hard chroming, I'll go elsewhere. I've seen them and compared them with the others and they are far from better.

You can also try Metrillo of Merville but I think he charges more. The previous owner of my S_I had it done there for 12,000 php according to him. Metrillo's no. is 8245637
Here's their work; Black chrome with polished flats
