I went to a few local shops yesterday & one of the guys was showing me a cheap ($450) 1911 from metro arms??? I never heard of this company but i couldn't believe how smooth the action was & how nice the trigger was for such a cheap gun. Anyone familiar with this gun, if so what can you tell me about it?

*edit* It's the upgraded model, not the standard.

The Firestorm is a finely crafted product. I have been very pleased with mine. $450 for a Deluxe Model is a good price.

So basically i should go back & get it. Just wanted to make sure it was nice. I wasn't expecting much from $450 1911, the only thing that made me ask was bc the action was so incredibly smooth. Didn't wanna buy on an impulse & end up with junk.

I have one and I love it.I have fired about 1,000 rounds with absolutely no malfunctions at all.The trigger was a little stiff til about 200 rounds went through it,then it smoothed right out.I have fired RN'S,JHP'S,SWC'S,handloads,it doesn't care what it eats. Here is a pic of it.sj

    These look *great* for 450!

Between this model and the RIA Tactical, it would be a hard choice... These seem to be a bit nicer for the money, but then again, I haven't seen them in person.

These are basically the American Classic, aren't they?

Metro is one of three large Filipino 1911 builders. The other two are Armscor and S.A.M. I have them all and like every one.

Are you sure its a Mil Spec and not a GI? :dunno:

Are the slide serrations vertical or slanted?

Mil Specs normally run about $600 for the parked models and $650-$700 for the stainless models.

So, is the Firestorm basically the same 1911 as the American Classic II by Metro Arms?

Yeah it's a mil spec. They also have a GI for $499. I thought the milspec was at least $599 normally.

That's a great price for the MS, especially considering its only $30 more than the GI.

And neither are made in the USA. We are talking about 1911s here, I don't understand why is there no desire to buy American.

That being said, I do own one non-US 1911 but the rest are %100 all good 'ole American wood and steel!

I prefer all American 1911's there is just something special about American made and manufactured 1911's but if I was on a low budget I might settle for a foreign made one.

I have been VERY pleased with my Metro Arms American Classic II, which is what I assume you were looking at. It is the one the first post after your's included in the pics.

It is riding in my holster right this very moment, and has been outstanding with all types of ammo both FMJ and HP ammo. I carry mine stuffed with 200 gr. +P Gold Dots.

Buy it with confidence and enjoy! :wavey:
