I have had my share of run-ins with Fire over my career, but they are the other half of the public safety equation. Without both, the public has no safety.

My heart is shattered at this news.

Oh man, that is really horrible. Being from the Midwest I've never really experienced wildfires, but they seem to be really nasty if you are anywhere remotely close.

Prayers to all the families and survivors involved.

RIP brothers... this has been a bad year (and even part of last year) for all our uniforms.

This is unfathomable. Prayers for all involved, their families, and their community. Sickening news.

Rest in peace. The coming days and weeks will be difficult almost beyond words for their families and comrades. May comfort be with them.

The average age of the crew was 22 years of age. This is the largest fatal incident in the Fire Service since 11 September 2001.

At least half of the town of Yarnell is destroyed.
