15 for me. timing issue for 200 grain. but 16 is fine.

Use the lightest that will reliably function your gun for softer feel.

16lbs is the factory standard for .45 cal. :)

  4. Use the 16 pounder. I have a Norc too and I find that mine likes the 16 lbs spring better than the 18 lbs one.

Plus it's easier on the gun when it goes back to battery after the round in the chamber is hammered and the gun recoils.

If you're using FMJ 230 grainers on your Norinco, I would suggest the 18.5 lb conventional spring. Of course, you have to test your ammo with the spring to confirm its reliability with the new springs.

When I had my Norinco, I changed the mainspring to 19 lb reduced power, and upped my recoil spring to 18.5 lb. My rationale is that the mainspring was reduced and the slide hits the hammer during the firing cycle. So, I had to compensate the reduction with a heavier weight spring. Also, the 230 gr is somewhat punishing to the gun as opposed to the 200 gr Hensely & Gibbs semi wadcutter (it was a very accurate bullet head, used by Bill Wilson, unfortunately Mr. Gibbs retired and closed his business). Ballisti Cast still makes them, though. http://users2.ev1.net/~eastus1/casting/FAQ.htm and http://users2.ev1.net/~eastus1/Casting/hgmoldchart.htm

Ditto on teh 14#, I was shooting 225s then in my single stack. The lighter spring is teh deal.
