Does anyone have any brand of a good version of them? I used to get the SureFire batteries since about 2001. It just seems like the ones I have been getting for awhile now do not have the brightness when new or the longevity the old ones did. I have gotten them from SureFire almost all the time so I can not think every box has been bad ones. Even bought a box from an online retailer before too. Just seem like over last few years they not as good as the earlier ones were. Any input on this?
I use Surefire. A couple of years ago I got a box with a couple of dead ones. They sent me TWO boxes to compensate and never even asked for the rest of my existing box. Always buy the true performer. Try to get that out of Walgreen's version.
I buy the Steamlight or Surefire brand. Had good luck with either. I usually wait till I find a good deal and buy a few years worth.
I don't use many nowadays. I don't carry handheld lights that use them anymore and I don't do a lot of clearing building or canine tracks anymore so my weapon lights are mostly unused
I suggest the Battery Junction. I've bought caselots of the Titanium brand. They are the 1400 mAh flavor and work well. They also come in the two or three pack ... as in wrapped so they do not rattle in the light. A dollar each with free shipping if you spend $50....... and do a search for discount coupon codes. Right now there is 5% off coupon.
If you do be careful... the rechargeable 123 are the same as 16340 in the li-ion cells
Just be aware, you can NOT physically fit enough chems in that size cell to produce more than about 700-800 mahr...So any cell that says more is prob BS ( a lot of cheap china made cells out there, some posted at 2300mahr, really produced about 350 mahr )
Buy a known brand !
I will ONLY purchase 123's from Battery Junction. I buy based upon price and in bulk, usually 50 to 100 per order. None of them have performed poorly. I would say in the last five years I have had three or four bad ones and when you factor in the money I have saved I laughed as I threw them out.
While we are on the topic, for those of you who utilize the CR 2032 button batteries for Crimson Trace or CR2's for wireless home alarm sensors you too should be shopping on Battery Junction.com.
It just seemed like the SureFire batteries just were not as good as they used to be. Bummed too because with so many companies who make that style battery I was afraid to look around and just buy some to try. I knew you guys would know what works good and figured would ask. With being my edc light and plus in the mountains when power goes out sometimes. It helps to know I can use the light and not turn it on and get a weak light or one that doesn't really last like it used too. Thanks for feedback and I will look at battery junction.
All U.S made 123's (Streamlight, Surefire, Ray o Vac Duracell) are made in one place, in Georgia, and the only difference is the OEM labels. Real Japanese made cells are nice, but hard to find. Never use any of the Chinese made cells, due to reliability issues.
I've been using the Surefire 123's for probably 15 years, can't recall ever having a bad one. Latest ones seem to last as long as the old days, but no precise testing. Not using so many now that I'm retired.
