800-X seems to be a great pairing for the 135 gr bullet. I have achieved the highest ME with that combo.

Use the following with caution as this is no longer published data. I spoke to a tech at Hodgdon (who distributes IMR powders) last year and he thought that older data sounded quite high for a max charge.

IMR formerly published the following load:

    Projectile: Nosler 135 gr JHP
    Powder: 800-X
    Max charge: 14.5 gr
    Primer: Remington 2 1/2
    Case: Remington
    COL: 1.25"
    Barrel: 5"
    velocity: 1670 fps @ 33,100 PSI

I have worked up to this recipe without problems. I use Starline brass and CCI 300 primers though. 14.3 gr chronies about 1690 fps in my G20. 14.5 gr did not go any faster. I have shot a number at that velocity without issue, but I do not think that there is any use to pushing this projectile that fast. I am going to chrony 12.5 grains next time to see how that works out.

I could be wrong, but 800-X seems to be burning a bit faster now than some of the older data suggests. I haven't been able to get it to perform as well as published data with heavier bullets. I've found indications of excess pressure at less-than-max and lower velocities than that of published data.

Do you intend to chrony any of your loads? If so it would be nice to see how fast they are running at the various load increments.

I've been wondering how it does in the 10mm using 135's, it works well in the G23 as I got over 1550fps using 135 Noslers.

The bullet works fine. The Nosler is well made and accurate. It cycles and functions well in my G20. They are very "splatterific" though. I used to carry that projectile, but the fact that they frag so easily began to turn me off. I've moved to something with a bit more sturdy construction.

A Nosler 135 gr JHP at nearly 1700 fps is an attention getter though. If you look around you can find various posts that show pretty explosive effects when that projectile is shot at "stuff:" meat, water jugs, wet phonebooks, etc.
