1 X 9 twist, Bushy .223 Carbine, heaviest weight bullet I can shoot?

Discussion in 'GATE AR-15 Forum' started by 21Glock, Sep 8, 2010.

  1. I have a Bushy carbine with a 1X9 twist barrel. All I have shot in it so far are 55gr. FMJ slugs that I've reloaded. Pretty accurate, I might add.

For some hunting applications I am wanting to add to my mix, what is the heaviest weight bullet I can and should accurately be able to shoot in this configuration of twist and barrel length?

    Thanks!

Most 9s will shoot 68-69gr bullets fine, some will shoot 75s but not the 75 Amax.

  3. Thanks, there is a 62gr. Barnes slug I would like to try out sometime. I just bought a box of 50 of the 55gr. ones.
