Anyone own one or ever worked on one? Does this unit need servicing or replacement? The old fashioned PCV valves can be bought at AUto parts stores. I have never seen one for an 02 Explorer. ANy replies appreciated

    #2 is the PCV valve

I wouldn't worry about changing it until you hit 100k

    if you have a 4.6l

  4. Or a large dog.

This happened to me on my way home one night. It ended up shattering the fog-light, cracking the molding, and snapping the hose mounting for the PCV valve.

Ex$pen$inve to replace, unless you do it on your own.

I have yet found a reason to replace one on a 4.0L sohc engine. I have seen the 4.6l's stick though.

Thanks, Gary_P. The 4.6L PCV seems to be the typical setup on most vehicles. The 4L (the one I have)is a bit more obscure. Thanks for the picture. By the way, the #1 hose is connected to the valve cover? I was not sure where it is located.
