Is the glock36 noticeably thinner( in the hand) than the G26? I keep thinking that I want one but for the past several months I have not been able to find one at the LGS. I can have them order one but they kinda frown if you cancel once it comes in. I just want to make sure that what I "heard" is accurate. thanks

No, the 36 is as wide as the slide of the 26. Basically, the 36 is 1/8" thinner in the frame. The slightly longer slide of the 36 does make it carry IWB slightly better in my opinion than the 26 which can get kind of floppy in some holsters.

Edit: If you have small fingers and hands I bet the 26 will be easier to grip your mittens around.

I have a 36 and a 19. I used to have a 26, but I sold it. The 36 does feel thinner in the hand than the 26, but for me it is a little too wide from front of the grip to the back, if that makes sense. Makes the trigger reach just a little longer than I prefer, but some people think it is perfect. I do like the 36, very easy to carry and conceal. I just prefer the model 19. I think the 36 makes more sense for people who wish to carry a .45 caliber. I have heard someone say the 36 is not that much thinner than the 30, but I do not agree at all. I can tell a big difference in the hand and iwb, but not so much with the 26. The 36 seems to be love or hate for most folks, they are hard to find, but I highly recommend trying one in the hand before buying.

I believe if you are looking for smaller or a thinner frame the 36/43/42 single stacks would better suit your needs. My hands are larger and the 26/27/33 are more of a comfort, while the 30s more so but still not perfect.

I would definetly opt for finding the frame that fits, too often here many use adjectives to sell their selections, but a size 10 foot may find that size 12 shoe uncomfortable.

The glock 19 grip is the absolute max as far as what I am comfortable shooting one handed. I carry a G26 from time to time and use it as a car gun quite often. Glocks have always run like a top for me and if the 36 would offer a little better grip than my 26, I would gladly get one. I would really prefer a little better finger pad positon on the trigger. I am just barely getting there with my hand in the correct position. I could always cock my hand a little but I don't want to start doing that. A gun either fits or it don't. Glocks have always been the absolute max on grip size for me. I'm not really looking for a micro gun, I like the gun to have some size and heft to it.

In looking at that awesome photo.. the 36 is obviously thinner. The earlier comment about it being wider from back to front has got me a little concerned. The thinness may cancel out if the front to back dimensions are too substantial.

I guess I better hold off ordering one sight unseen

Circumference at middle finger (top finger on grip):
G36 = 5-11/16"
G23.4 sans ABS = 5-5/8"

One 1/16" bigger around... a little over 1%.

Figure about, or little less, what a Gen3 G23 is.

One point. I have a 36 and like it a lot. The grip is more OVAL than square like "normal" :supergrin: Glock pistols. The single stack and odd magazine must account for that, I don't know.... A good pistol, nonetheless.
