Hey I should have mentioned. I've never like Glocks (out of ignorance), first becauses I didn't like the name, and didn't need a gun I could park my truck on in a mud puddle and still fire it, not an impressive selling point for a target shooter; BUT!! things change.
I was able to purchase a S&W M&P at Bud's as a "Qualified Professional", the price was impossible to pass up. I fired it at a set of steel gongs I have and liked the gun so I bought another one, the CORE Model from the Performance Center for about double the price of a stock one. Expecting a PC gun to be a bit of a tack driver, I found it to be anything but. Buy this time I have several M&P's; I noticed while cleaning the CORE one day that the barrel rattled in the slide. I have to ask myself how a gun with a barrel that rattles can hit anything? I complained to S&W and sent it back, meanwhile finding Semi Drop In Match Barrels for the M&P at Apex Tactical. I bought one of those and fitted it to one of my other guns and it drives tacks. then I got the CORE back from S&W and without even shooting it, the barrel still rattled (I got it back in no time at all also). Si I called back and complained again and the guy who took my call said, the Performance Center Gunsmiths have to have a minimum of 20 years experience to work there, I told him I have 20 minutes experience and I fitted a barrel that now drives tacks. He replied; S&W doesn't build guns anymore, they assemble parts...well now you tell me.
So I'm at the range and a guy comes up beside me with his brand new Glock. I asked him to take the slide off, after telling my story, to see how his barre fit...like a glove. I fired it and got a superb group. Another day a find another shooter with a Glock and, same thing, fits like a glove and shoots well. I thought Glocks were combat weapons which usually means loose so they are reliable. Well obviously that's not true so I just bought my first and cant wait to try it out.
Sorry to find out that Smith & Wesson is not really worth the price anymore. They used to be a real good gun manufacturer.
I always thought Glocks were over-hyped and over-priced. Then I found out my Taurus PT145 is part of a class action lawsuit 'cause if dropped even with the safety on, it can go bang. The Glock 21 is my Taurus replacement. The first time to the range, the Glock performed flawlessly for 200 rounds. It felt great shooting it. Now I have to apologize for the harsh things I've ever said about Glocks.
Confession time. I have not and I probably will not commit the various Glock models to memory. So I printed a comparison chart that I leave next to the computer when I visit GT (see, I'm already learning the acronyms). Now when someone talks about their Glock 44, I know it's a 454 Casull with an 8 inch barrel and a 21 round capacity.
