19 vs 26 ?

For those who've owned both the 19 and 26, which do you shoot and like better and why? CCW is not a consideration here. I shot both today and the 19 just felt more comfortable but probably because I own a 23 so it felt right. I'm going to get one or the other to shoot GSSF. Any advantage either way? The 26 would probably feel better with a Pearce Extension or using the mags from a 19. My pinkie was just waving in the breeze lol.

And the debate goes on LOL. I just picked up a 30S and still need to tweak the sights and get accustomed to it but it's a really sweet EDC and I can see it'll be accurate. The 23, one tweak to the sights and they were dead nuts. With the 30S, not so easy yet.

I'm leaning towards the 19 purely because "it just feels right". I really don't care about concealment since it won't be carried, I've already got 3 to chose from for EDC and I may swap out the sights on the 30S and focus on competition with that in the subcompact group. That'll still leave me with my 23 or my Walther PPS M2 for EDC and got to say, that Walther is really sweet.

I have both, train with both, and often have both with me, or very nearby. I carry the 26 IWB, and keep the 19 in an Aliengear OWB Mod paddle holster, clipped to a Mod Dock. I have a dock in my vehicle, in an ignition tied locked compartment, and a couple in the house, hidden, up high, out of munchkin reach.

I don't know why, but I shoot my 26 remarkably well, when running the flush, 2 finger mags. It just naturally points correctly, with very little effort. For that reason, coupled with the smaller size, it is what I carry. I have added TruGlo TFO's and a Crimson Trace rear grip activation laser to the 26. My 19 has a viridian light/laser mounted on the rail.

What are you training for

I have both and really shoot equally well with either (but I don't compete so...) If I could only have one my vote would be the 19. But the 26 with a 19 magazine an the X-grip sleeve to give you a better grip plus the standard mags would be very tough to argue against. And it would give you more options for competition.

Competency. Making Damn sure, if I ever have to pull that trigger, in defense of my life, I hit precisely what I am aiming at, and not some innocent on the periphery, particularly while shooting under adrenaline inspired duress. I personally believe that regular ongoing professional training, coupled with significant range practice, should be a requirement, for anyone who chooses, or is required, to carry a firearm.

Thanks much, hard choice although shooting 4 categories with the 26 is appealing. The grip on the 26 just didn't feel as natural as the 19. But again I've got a good bit of time with my 23 so that's expected. For CCW I use my 30S, 23 and Walther PPS M2 so this will be a range only gun.
I have one, along with my 19 and 26. Each has its place, but the 34 is a bit much, stuffed in your pants, especially when something smaller is available.
The answer is 34 unless the frame doesn't fit your hand right.

My 34 is a remarkably well balanced shooter, but it is also way pickier re ammo, than either the 26 or the 19. Just this afternoon, that was proven again, when the 34 jammed/choked on a slightly longer than normal reload, maybe 9x20, which, once extracted, fired just fine in the 19. The tolerances on the 34 just seem finer. As long as I stick to factory 1st rate (non reload) ammo, it runs just fine.

Neither gun is "perfect" at anything but when you add up the +'s and the -'s they are as close to perfect as a pistol can get. Performance , dependability , caliber power, magazine capacity , conceilibility , ease of maintenance , availability of accessories...ect For me they seem the Swiss Army Knives of pistols.

For shooting I much prefer the G19. The G19 fits my hand better, the G26 with the Glock factory +2 magazine is not bad but not as good as the G19.

Thanks. I had a look at the X-Grips and seems they'd do just what I need. My Walther PPS M2 is very similar from the factory and it just fits perfectly. The
addition of the X-Grips would seem to provide the exact same feel. I'm going to order a set and put them on a 19 mag and head to the LGS.

Maybe try being Cpt.Reading next time. Rocky7 said that G26 is the most accurate NINE MILLIMETER glock has to offer and your argument to the contrary was that the G21 next to a G26 in a vice will produce better groups because of the better round. In what world is a 45acp a 9mm? SMGDH, American public schools...
Oops.. not sure how I missed that. Honest mistake. Are you a ******** all the time? or only when being a keyboard warrior?

I like both, and shoot them nearly the same. Some days the 26 outshoots the 19, other days the opposite. If i never carried i would likely stick to the 19.

I shoot the 17 the best.

I'll put it this way.....first Glock after coming back to them two years ago....was a G17.

Then a G23.

Then a G19.

Had I bought the G19 first.....there'd likely never been any G17 or G26 for me.

The G19 is a "do-it-all" for me.

Wished I'd have known this first. It took the Gen4 large beavertail to make it fit ideally.....that an the GAP floor plates. I'm very pleased.

Now....if I ever shoot a GSSF event I'll have the subcompact covered with the little G26, which, I actually do shoot fairly well.

I've opted to go for the 26. Only reason why, I've already got a 23 Gen 4 which is just the 19 but in a 40 cal and I've got a KKM match barrel for that. So between the 23, 26 and 30S, I do believe I will have all of the bases covered for GSSF matches. Just need to try to figure out a way to fit those into what is about to become surveillance work every weekend plus my normal work Mon-Friday.

Ive always felt that if I had to "uproot" my family for some catastrophic reason the 2 guns that I would take would be one of my M4 (5.56mm) and My Glock 26 Both are NATO rounds so if I was to land in a foreign country the 9mm and the 5.56 mm would prob be easy to find. I'd choose the Glock because it happens to be the most popular pistol (G19/26) in the world followed by the most popular caliber (9MM). And the fact that the 26 can take THREE (3) different sized magazines 26, 19 and 17, The magazines won't be an issue. And I am a big 40 cal fanboy G27,23,22 All dam day long for me.
Just my 2 cents, Now why would I have to uproot my family? I don't know, Maybe watching to much Walking Dead I suppose.

I shoot my G19 better, however the G26 does well for me with the Pearce base plate pinky extensions.

I'm carrying the G26 today due simply to ease of holster I'm using for it. It's in a high riding Raven OWB and very comfortable.

At my spine doctor going over MRI results.

My G19 holsters are both IWB and are normally super comfortable.....just not at the moment with my recent back injury.

Glad to have options, lol.

I have a G19C and a G26
My G19C is a much flatter shooting gun (possibly due to porting). Makes it much easier to shoot fast/accurately. I'm alright with the 26, but am also I'm tempted to magnaport my G26 to see if it would help.
Since it's not intended for CCW, I say G19 all the way.

G26 = finger groove spacing same as G17 & G34
G19 = too small finger spacing for larger hands ; could never get comfortable with it .
Much love for G26 with Glock 12 round magazines ... Feels good , points good , shoots good and is more accurate than a short barrel sub compact deserves to be !!

I'm a fan of the .40, so my comparison is between the 23 and the 27. I like both, but shoot the 27 better than the 23. My carry gun is the 27, although I can carry the 23 almost as easily. If one of these two had to go, it'd be the 23, and I'm very fond of it, the 27 is the deal!

Undercutting the trigger guard on my 19 and 26 completely solved my finger spacing issues, and makes both much more comfortable shooters, by incrementally lowering the bore axis.
